All good things come to an end?

The Orioles finally lost a game after a 4 game winning streak starting with a sweep over the Angels this past week and then a win over the White Sox.  Yesterday, the Orioles lost.  Showalter’s streak came to an end, as all good things do eventually, as they do in sports, as they do in life.

I probably should go on and on about sentimental things that are happening in my life as a result of some life changes and evolving friendships and relationships (and metabolism) but I won’t.  Instead, I will talk about The Office.  There are rumors from verified sources that Steve Carell plans on not renewing his contract with the sitcom after next season when it expires.  What kind of place would the Office be without Michael Scott?  Are we even going to find out?  Do we want to find out?  Maybe the best thing we can do is just accept it and be grateful for the time we’ve been given.

The Orioles should be thankful that they were on Sportscenter for more than just highlights of dropping fly balls and running into each other in the outfield.  They should be thankful that Showalter seems to be making a positive impact.  But they shouldn’t have expected the impossible.

And just as I was writing this blog post, I see that the O’s won today’s game over the White Sox.  So maybe the saying shouldn’t be “All good things come to an end”, but “All good things come to an end, and then sometimes they come back”.
