Have you ever been rejected by someone or something that you didn’t even really want in the first place? That’s the Terps and the NIT. It’s like being rejected by your safety school. Not a good feeling.
That’s the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Barker on the University of Maryland’s NIT snub. The Terrapins denied NIT bid marks the first time the team will miss the postseason since 1993, when Maryland was rebounding from probation. Their 17-year streak of postseason basketball was the longest in the ACC. (Yes, beating Duke and North Carolina.)
Granted a NIT snub hurts, but with a lackluster season and a 19-14 record, can you really say you’re surprised?
